It's only a matter of days until Team Washo folds. The Staffordshire based team is currently in the process of rehoming all of its star riders. There've been some highs and lows in the seasons that we've competed in. At times we've wanted to scream in frustration, as riders fail, get injured or max prematurely.
However at other times we've been in utter jubilation, such as when Oswald Vancleave won the Minsk CBGP, or when we reached the top 15 in the world. Yet now the project has run its course, and Team Washo will soon be no longer. Paul Hermmann has already moved onto pastures new, and others will be following in the next few days, before the team says goodbye for the final time.
Relations with other teams have been rocky at times, we've had our quarrels and arguments, but also many good moments alongside some fantastic teams and other met some great people. But it's time for Team Washo to call it quits, we've been stuck in the same division for ages, and the lack of progress has drawn an end to our financial backing, making the project no longer feasible.
Reporting by correspondent George Parkinson, one of the original riders of Team Washo when it was first formed.
P.S: It is rumoured that manager Dave Washington has been offered a new job, with a team somewhere in Africa. More to follow if there's any substance on the rumours.
